What is Androgenic alopecia (AGA) OR Male pattern baldness (MPB) ?
Balding in men with a typical pattern is commonly known as male pattern baldness. The typical pattern of male baldness begins at the hairline. The hairline gradually moves backward (recedes) and forms an "M" shape. Eventually the hair becomes finer, shorter, and thinner, and creates a U-shaped (or horseshoe) pattern of hair around the sides of the head.
Male pattern baldness is related to your genes and male sex hormones like DHT [dihydrotestosterone]. It usually follows a pattern of receding hairline and hair thinning on the crown, and is caused by hormones and genetic predisposition.
Each strand of hair you have sits in a tiny hole (cavity) in the skin called a follicle. Baldness in general occurs when the hair follicle shrinks over time, resulting in shorter and finer hair. Eventually, the follicle does not grow a new hair.
What is diffuse patterned alopecia (DPA) & diffuse unpatterned alopecia (DUPA) ?
Diffuse Patterned Alopecia (DPA) is also an androgenetic alopecia characterized by diffuse thinning in the front, top, and vertex area of the scalp in conjunction with a stable permanent zone. Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) is also androgenetic, but lacks a stable permanent zone. DPA patients are often good candidates for an appropriately timed transplant, whereas DUPA patients should almost never be transplanted.
Frequently asked questions
What is DHT ? Is DHT the only cause for balding in Men ?
The most widely accepted explanation for male pattern hair loss is the DHT [dihydrotestosterone], which is a by-product of testosterone created by the enzyme 5 Alpha-Reductase. Medical science believes that overproduction of the male hormone or androgen called DHT is an important cause of hair loss in men however it can not be the only cause.
DHT is a natural form of testosterone produced by an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase which is required for normal sexual functions. Indiscriminate inhibition of this metabolite has led to sexual performance problems, such as impotence or erectile dysfunction.
I am a patient of androgenic alopecia. Will I regrow my lost hair with any medical treatment ? Will any treatment convert my thinned hair into normal hair ?
In most cases, male pattern baldness / androgenic alopecia is known for permanent type of hair loss where the chances of regrowth are poor with any medical treatment. Thinning of the hair is also a sign of androgenic alopecia which is not reversible.
What types of conventional treatments are available for androgenic alopecia ? What are the side effects of conventional treatments ?
There are thousands of commercial products available in the market but most of them are known as placebo treatments. Doctors are using topical minoxidil, finasteride, vitamin pills, laser treatment, stem cell therapy etc. but each treatment has limitations and no therapy gives 100% recovery in such type of hair loss. Minoxidil has been proved less effective and it has some adverse reactions like burning of the scalp, erythema, scaling, pruritis, dermatitis, tissue damage etc. Finasteride has adverse effects including impotence, abnormal ejaculation, abnormal sexual function, gynecomastia, erectile dysfunction and testicular pain.

Is there any guarantee about the result? What will minimum time duration to see the effect of natural treatment ? What will be duration of the treatment ?
Guarantee is a marketing word which is being used to increase sale of commercial products. Ayurveda treatment is based on basic nature of the patient so it is difficult to give any type of guarantee about the results. Result may vary from person to person. In most cases, natural therapy takes 4-6 months to start showing its effect however in few cases, it may take 9-12 months. Duration of the treatment could be variable in each individual.
I have seen few pictures about the results of natural therapy on your site www.alopeciacure.com. Can i expect same results in my case ?
Entire Ayurveda is based on basic nature (Prakruti) which can be different in each individual so results may vary from person to person. One can not compare the result with others.
